Custer State Park Wildlife Loop [USA Road Trip to Black Hills South Dakota]

An USA road trip to Custer State Park WILDLIFE LOOP STATE SCENIC BYWAY in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Custer State Park’s 18-mile Wildlife Loop State Scenic Byway has what you are looking for! Winding through pine-covered hills, rolling prairies and red-walled canyons, the Wildlife Loop is one of the highlights of a park that has many wild animals just ripe for the camera. 1300 Buffalo are the big stars along the byway. Bighorn sheep, pronghorn, deer, elk, coyote, prairie dog, donkey and numerous bird species including wild turkey can all be seen at times along the Wildlife Loop. The Needles Highway in the Black Hills, South Dakota

The Needles Highway in South Dakota is in Custer State Park in the Black Hills. It is part of Highway 87 (SD 87). The northern 14 miles (23 km) of the highway 87 is also known as the Needles Highway. The Needles Highway, along with the concurrency with US 16A, are also part of the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway. Portions of the highway are also a section of Custer State Park’s Wildlife Loop.
